The third season of the Overwatch League is now firmly underway. One of the biggest attractions of the League this year was the introduction of 'Homestand' matches, where teams would host opponents in their home country, allowing greater atmospheres with thr gathering of home fans. Unfortunately for the Seoul Dynasty there have been outbreaks of Coronovirus in South Korea recently, meaning that their Homestand games that were originally scheduled for the 7th-8th March will now have to be rescheduled. The safety of players, teams and fans is obviously the highest priority and whilst it's disappointing that more games are cancelled, it's incredibly necessary to do this in order to help fight the spread of the Coronovirus.
Unfortunately for the Overwatch League, there were several previous matches that had been rearranged from China to South Korea amid Coronovirus fears in China. Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hangzhou all had matches rearranged earlier in the season, taking the total tally of affected games up to 33. To add to the concern, several teams had recently travelled to South Korea to train before their matches with the Seoul Dynasty, including San Francisco Shock and LA Gladiators. Player safety is at the forefront of the League's concern.
All fans who purchased tickets will be refunded and all future updates on match rescheduling and Coronovirus issues will be detailed on the Overwatch League website.
