We all know that loot boxes are a hot topic at the moment, with some countries and governments even closing them as gambling. At best loot boxes are under scrutiny (and not just from players) and at worst it has led to bans of certain games. However I think the general consensus is that they are frustrating because you cannot guarantee what items you will get, which can feel like a waste of money.
Psyonix, the creators of Rocket League, have decided to move away from the RNG element of loot boxes and have said they are putting into place a blueprint method instead. The blueprint method will allow players to know exactly what they are spending their money on, removing all luck in the process.
The update will go live on 4th December, across all platforms and for those wondering; any remaining crates and keys you have will be converted into blueprints or credits. One key will be worth the same as 10p credits.
This is a welcome update from the Druid Gaming team and we are hoping other games will follow suit (we're looking at you FIFA and Overwatch). Is this a good move?
