Riot, the Los Angeles based game developer known for League of Legends, has settled the class action lawsuit started last year by two female employees on the grounds of gender discrimination and sexual harassment.
Shocking right? It turns out there are moron employees in every work space.
Every female employee of Riot since 2014 (which is roughly a thousand) will be entitled to a pay out of $10 million from a fund set aside for this specific purpose. The fact Riot has a 'fund set aside' for this is actually quite concerning in itself? I suppose it's good to be prepared for worst case scenarios, especially when it comes to others actions!
"We’re pleased to have a proposed settlement to fully resolve the class action lawsuit. The settlement is another important step forward and demonstrates our commitment to living up to our values and to making Riot an inclusive environment for the industry’s best talent."
Riot won't be too effected by the lawsuit, they've released a few new games earlier this year including League of Legends: Wild Rift to launch on consoles and mobile devices at some point in 2020; Legends of Runeterra, a free-to-play collectible card game currently in beta stage, is also being prepared for next years activity, available on Android and iOS devices.
Do you think a $10 million split fund is justice and what are your thoughts on Riot having a fund set aside for instances like this?
